However, they are often deprived of equal rights, access to education, healthcare, and participation in decision-making processes.
In recent years, both the government and various non-governmental organizations have initiated several programs to empower rural women. Schemes like Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Ujjwala Yojana, and the Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana have contributed to some improvements. Despite these efforts, issues such as illiteracy, poverty, gender discrimination, and conservative mindsets remain major obstacles.

Women empowerment is a vital step toward building a balanced and progressive society. It refers to increasing the strength, dignity, and decision-making power of women in all aspects of life. In India, especially in rural areas, women face many challenges, but through focused efforts, their condition is gradually improving. Women empowerment can be understood through the following four major aspects:
1. Social Empowerment: Social empowerment means giving women equal rights and status in society. This includes access to proper healthcare, freedom from discrimination, and protection against harmful practices like child marriage and domestic violence. A socially empowered woman can live with dignity and take independent decisions about her life.
2. Economic Empowerment: Financial independence is the foundation of real empowerment. When women get opportunities to earn through jobs, self-employment, or small businesses, especially via Self-Help Groups (SHGs), they become self-reliant. This not only improves their personal lives but also contributes to the economic growth of the nation.
3. Educational Empowerment: Education plays the most powerful role in transforming a woman's life. An educated woman becomes aware of her rights, gains self-confidence, and can raise a better future generation. Government schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao aim to promote girls' education in rural and urban areas alike.
4. Political Empowerment: When women participate in politics and leadership roles, they help shape laws and policies that benefit everyone. With 33% reservation in local bodies like Panchayats, many women are emerging as strong leaders and changemakers, improving their communities through their active involvement.
The Foundation plans to scale this initiative to 1,000+ women by next year, introduce digital literacy and online selling platforms, and create more market linkages for women-led businesses.
